Wheel Pressure checking and services

One of the important check carried out in the aircraft while parked in the airport for next departure is wheel pressure checking. There is a suitable pressure checking gauge with dial indicated in PSI. According to specifications, the minimum pressure to be filled in boeing737 aircrafts is 205 +/- 5. But the normal pressure charging will be varied, and that will be almost 200psi. For this there are two conditions, hot condition and cold condition. If the aircraft came after a flight, within one hour if we are charging the condition is hot condition. So that the pressure shown will be more. Hence we need to charge 205 psi in order to get 200psi normal pressure inside the wheel. In cold condition that is after 1 hour of flight landed and parked, the procedure will be normal and we can charge up to 200psi.

Nitrogen gas is normally used for filling since it’s provides more efficiency for the wheels, less heating, less evaporation rate, more mileage etc. Now a days we are using this gas in our automobiles. While removing the pressure filler cap, its must be very careful, and ensure it is placed back correctly. Ensure the wheels properly charged and for correct pressure.
