CIAL Helicopter Terminal Services

It has been decided to make a CIAL Helicopter Terminal and services in Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL). The construction works for this plan will be started by January 2011 onwards. Within one year the heliport and heli-terminal services will be fully functional. By the starting onwards the Airport can facilitate 6 helicopters parking and services. There will be separate terminals for these facilities. This project will be promoting services for the state tourism and operations. Charter services will be also provided for the private functioning. It can also facilitate medical ambulance services and air taxi services. Based on the survey and reports all over the state there will be provided Helipads for the operations. The Helipads which are already in the state will be upgraded. The activities of these Helipads will be undertaken by CIAL. 

Bharath Airways inaugurated the Helicopter services to Sabarimala (Nilakkal) and this became an initiative for the CIAL Helicopter services. CIAL has obtained permission from Travancore Dewasom Board to commence heli – taxi services to Nilakkal (foothills of Sabarimala) and to Sharankuttiyal (near Sannidhanam) for emergency purposes like medical evacuation of casualities and movement connected with Security requirements.
