Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is a three years aviation
course which deals with aircraft engineering, rules, services and safety
standards. This is training for aviation students, to be the part of aviation
industry and the training comprises with an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering OJT (AME OJT). Two and half
years will be the theory course and six months will be the practical training.
The training is usually provided by the institutes itself or incase the
students can search for training outside the institute also, But the condition
is, that organization must be approved by DGCA India.
Flying Clubs
(Trivandrum Flying Club, Chimes Aviaiton, Oriental flight school etc), Airline MROs (CIASL, BIAL, HAL, and NAL
etc) Airline Hangars (Air India, Jet
Airways etc) Pvt Airline Companies (
King fisher, Go Air etc) are some aviation industries which you can get AME
training. You can also search AME OJT in Airline Operating services like Jet airways, Indian airlines / Air India, Air India Express, Kingfisher Airlines Pvt Ltd, Go Air, Indigo
Airlines, etc
There are many aviation organizations in India
which are approved by DGCA India, so that it will be easy for you get the
training after the AME course. Early times of 2000 the training was free for
AME students, but now the aviation organizations charging some amount of money
from the trainee students as caution deposit and training fee. Any ways, the
AME OJT is required for an AME student to complete his three years of training.
So it is necessary to join some aviation organization, and get the OJT
certificate of six months.
Considering AME jobs after AME course is as hard as finding the AME OJT. You can get training with paying some amount of money, but to getjob you need more. I mean more training for experience and should pass the DGCA AME license examinations Paper 1,2,3,4. Up to three licenses you can get by training and fourth one you will get only after joining some aviation organization for Jobs. However get some apprentice jobs in Airline industry, which will give you better opportunities. There will be recruitments undergoing inside Airlines companies that you may not be knowing unless you be in Aviation industry. So better get AME OJT from any Aviation Organization if your wish is to be an Aircraft Mechanic. Good luck!
